Garden Outdoor Entertaining

Garden entertaining to wow your guests

Entertaining family and friends in your garden should be a pleasurable experience for guests and hosts alike and the way to achieve this is to make sure your outdoor space is comfortable and well organised. One addition that many people are installing in their garden is a bar area.

You can buy a pre-built bar to install in your garden or you can create your own. Some amazing outdoor bars have been built from wooden pallets, and if you have the time, you can save yourself a shed load of money doing it this way.

The first thing to decide is whether you want your bar to be indoor or outdoor and if it is outdoor whether it will have some sort of cover over it to allow it to be used in times of inclement weather. If you are going to go all out and build an indoor bar area in a wooden outbuilding or stand alone with a roof it will cost a bit more but is more convenient. If you choose to build an outdoor shed with a bar area then you may also want to have a TV screen in there or a music system. This will require electricity to be brought into the space which means you will need a qualified electrician to install outdoor sockets. They will need to run an armoured cable under the ground up to your shed to install electrical sockets and all of this will add to the cost of installing a bar.

It is important to think carefully about where you are going to build your bar area. If it is not going to have shelter, then you may decide to build it in a shady area of the garden so that you don’t have to worry about drinks getting too hot during the warmer months.

Stocking your outdoor bar area will be the next task and so it is a good idea to have plenty of shelving around the walls that can house bottles and glasses. If you are planning a large event you may want to buy a small barrel of beer or lager to serve to your guests so having a surface where the barrel can be positioned would be useful. A small fridge would be a bonus during periods of hot weather so that drinks can be kept cold and ice can be served with drinks. Once the hard work has been completed and the bar area is kitted out with comfortable garden furniture there is only one thing left to do – chill out and relax with a cold beer.
