How Often Should you Water your Lawn?

Posted on September 30, 2018 at 9:49 pm

Keeping your lawn in good condition is one of the most important parts of looking after your garden; everything else simply surrounds the lawn and complements it. One of the most crucial elements of lawn health is ensuring it gets enough water, so that it stays green and doesn’t become brown.

It’s difficult to know exactly how much your should water your lawn to keep it in the best possible condition. It will ride on the time of year and how much it is raining, as well as the amount of sun your lawn gets. If it is a kind of turf that does well in the shade, then it perhaps wont’t need as much water, even when it is really hot weather. During the summer, it is a good idea to water you lawn almost daily, whatever kind of turf it is. Invest in a sprinkler if you want to make the task easier.

Garden Trellises

Posted on December 22, 2014 at 5:04 pm

Garden trellises are one of the most useful things for a home owner to get for their garden. They can be used to add shape and dimension to your garden’s design as well as an important factor in bringing diversity of plant-life to your garden.

Climbing plants need something to grow on, which is what trellises are specifically designed for. They allow you to bring great flowering plants into your garden such as jasmin, clematis, wisteria, hydrangea and many more besides.

You can get a wide variety of trellises to match a variety of purposes and design functions. Getting a trellis which works as a frame for an archway is a popular option, as well as for gazebos. You can also get them made from a variety of materials, such as different types of wood or metal and plastic if you so desire.

Pods for Privacy and Seclusion

Posted on October 11, 2014 at 2:36 pm

We touched on these ever so slightly in our last post, but a garden pod can be a wonderful addition to a garden. It’s essentially a large ball, providing seating and a table in the centre, perfect for unwinding with a book or your latest magazine.

With a pod you of course get 360 degree views of your garden, while you never have to worry about being struck by strong winds. In many ways a pod is a sphere lounger, and it’s a modern take on traditional summerhouses.

They tend to be made of pine, yet they have waterproof fabric and a zip for the entrance. Sizes vary but there is usually space to include a small heater if you wanted to enjoy your pod in the winter, and it’s a garden feature that’s becoming extremely popular fast.

Adding Fruit Trees to Your Garden

Posted on August 26, 2014 at 11:38 am

A lot of people like using their garden solely for decorative purposes, but others, while they feel this is important, also feel that having fruit growing in their garden is essential for the complete garden experience.

Adding fruiting plants to your garden can be done quite simply, but you should try to get a wide selection of different plants for the garden. Getting a few different fruit trees will give you lots of options, but you need to minimise them to ones which grow well in our climate. You can scatter other smaller fruiting plants, such as strawberries, blueberries, and maybe something like garlic or thyme, around the trees, making sure you’re maximising your space usage.

You could design your garden so that it provides a large amount of food produce, through fruit trees, plants, and vegetables, without compromising the garden’s aesthetic design.
