Posted on July 14, 2017 at 11:38 pm

Summer is the season for beautiful, bright bulbs. Lots of flowers will be blooming from June onwards as the weather starts to get warmer, and they will probably continue until September or October, depending on the weather and temperature. Here are some of the flowers you might expect to see in gardens throughout the summer:

• Iris. Enjoy a mix of colours like blues, violets and apricots from the many different varieties of Iris.
• Oriental Lily. The pink blooms of this Lily definitely show summer is here. They can be grown in containers very easily and will flower well.
• Allium. Perfect for flowerbeds, Alliums come in a mix of colours that will add vibrancy and interest to any garden.
• Anemones. Add a touch of blue to your garden and enjoy the flowers from July through to September.
• Begonia. One of the benefits of the Begonia is that it will last all summer long. Grow them in containers like hanging baskets.

All About Railway Sleepers

Posted on May 31, 2017 at 1:53 pm

Railway sleepers, originally intended for use on the railways, have become popular features of many modern gardens. Designers and landscapers find them to be useful materials for use in the garden, thanks to their durability and versatility. Traditionally, sleepers have been made from a variety of materials including wood, steel, rubber and even concrete. When we talk about sleepers in the garden, we are usually talking about those made from softwood, since they are light, easy to carry and transport and look nicer. Raised Bed Kits

Different Types of Garden Turf

Posted on August 25, 2016 at 4:00 pm

This isn’t something that many people consider when they’re buying their home, but it can have a continual and lasting impact on their feelings about their lawn. Some types of grass or lawn materials could have a more reliably good appearance; looking green and vibrant all year round, while others may turn darker under intense sunlight during the summer months. Still others could have a very fast growth period, which will in turn require regular maintenance and mowing every week in order to keep under control, while at the opposite end of the scale, lawn grass could grow very slowly and only need to be cut once in a while. Some may be able to endure through playful children and pets, while other may be totally brutalised by it. There are a lot of factors to consider.

The type that is largely underutilised throughout the UK is low maintenance varieties of lawn grass. These types of grass are ideal for holiday homes and rental properties, as they don’t depend upon regular maintenance in order to maintain an acceptable appearance. They are also a great option for those of us who have gotten tired with a weekly chore that they would like to cut back to a once every two month kind of thing.
